BELLINGHAM – The Lyncs defense was once again in mid-season form, and the offense couldn’t be stopped as Lynden Christian bested Bellingham 71-0 at Civic Stadium on Friday night.

Dykstra

LC senior quarterback Logan Dykstra was on target, completing 13-of-17 passes for 290 yards and five touchdowns. He also ran for 49 yards and a score, and did all of it in the first half.

Quick strikes to the outside and pin-point accuracy on post patterns allowed all 13 of Dykstra’s completions to either go for first downs or touchdowns.

Senior Jackson Apol caught four passes for 113 yards and a touchdown. He also had a long touchdown reception called back because of a penalty. He also ran in a score and booted four of the extra points. Fellow senior Cole Moorlag also caught four passes, and his went for 70 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Dykstra other touchdown passes were completed to Shale Whittern and Caleb Ryan.

Moorlag

Senior DeVonta Bootsma and junior Zac Owen were co-leaders for the Lyncs in rushing as they each amassed 51 yards on the ground, as well as a touchdown. Backup quarterback Will Colwell completed a touchdown pass to junior speedster Jamison Hintz, and ran in another touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Red Raider senior quarterback Trevor Johnson completed 12 passes, but was only able to get 30 yards out of them as the Lynden Christian defense played extremely aggressive. Bellingham senior Manny DePalma led his team in receptions for the second game in a row, this time with six.

The Lyncs defense got interceptions from Dykstra and Hintz.

Lynden Christian (2-0) will be at Meridian (1-0) on Friday at 7:00, and the Red Raiders (0-2) will travel to Blaine (0-2) on Friday to take on the Borderites at the same time.

  1. Is 71 the most points an LC team has scored, Mr. Stats man? I am sure a 71-point differential has to be record for LC!
