Ferndale Keeps a Steady Pace Against Trojans

BELLINGHAM – The Golden Eagles got their first win of the season and scored in five of the first six innings on Tuesday, defeating Meridian 14-3 in softball.

Ferndale used its discipline and took advantage of 12 walks. Megan Solomon also had a pair of hits, while Brianna Byrnes scored three runs and Mackenna Holtrop had three RBI’s.

Alyssa Berg and Hannah Mattingley each pitched three innings and combined for 11 strikeouts, while each just walking one batter.

Ella Zander led the Trojans offensively with three of her teams’ four hits, and she also had an RBI.

Ferndale (1-3) travels to Mount Vernon (1-2) on Saturday to take on the Bulldogs at 1:00, while Meridian (1-2) will host Lynden (2-1) on Friday for it’s first league game of the season.
