Even though the boys tennis season wrapped up in the fall of 2022, the state tournament for the boys will take place this weekend along with the girls at the Nordstrom Tennis Center at the University of Washington.

Initial matches will take place on Friday, and the tournament will commence on Saturday.

Also, there will be a lot of Whatcom County athletes participating, including Sehome sophomore Zach Chai and senior Nathan Gruman in singles competition, as well as seniors Calvin Kraynak and Whitt Greshamn teaming up in doubles competition.

Bellingham will be represented on the boy’s side by sophomore Jacob Kuhn in the singles bracket, as well as Lowa Gresham and Ellie Wolverton in the girls’ singles bracket. The Bayhawks will also have Kira Carlson and Ella Morrow competing in girls’ doubles.

Squalicum’s Bernadine Salvatierra will be in the singles bracket, while Lynden’s Adia Newcomb and Kalanie Newcomb will play in the doubles bracket.

It’s been a strong few seasons for tennis in Whatcom County this year, and we’re all hoping for some hardware to be brought back home.
