BELLINGHAM – It was expected that the Bayhawks would have a pretty good wrestling squad this season, and Saturday’s matches proved it.

Bellingham had three dual meets throughout the day, and defeated Granite Falls 60-15, defeated Mount Vernon 63-12 and also beat Marysville-Getchell 78-12.

Going 3-0 sent them into the championship match against South Whidbey, who had won its pool earlier in the day.

The Bayhawks put up another similar score by beating the Falcons 66-18.

Dylan Roath (113), Daniel Kuhn (126), Aiden Borchert (132), Gabe Wilkerson (138), Conor Rodriguez (144), Nate Laas (150) and Pavel Shintar (157) all went 4-0 on the day with four pins.

Jacob McCarty (106), Sonny Powell (215) and Finnegan Jensen (285) each went 4-0 with three pins, and one forfeit victory, and Dylan Roath (113) went 4-0 with three pins and a 9-5 decision victory.
