In a much anticipated rematch of the two top 1A teams of the Northwest Conference, the Lyncs won the first set 25-13. They then had to claw their way back from being down 20-14 in the second set, and ended up finishing the set on a 12-4 run to win 26-24, before sweeping the match with a convincing 25-8 win.
The second set comeback was spearheaded by defense up front by sophomore Jess DeJong who pulled off multiple blocks to not only gain points for her team, but give the momentum to her team as well. She finished with a game-high 4.5 on the night.

Lyla Parriera’s defense was also key, as she finished with 16 digs against the heavy-hitting Trojans. Jocelyn Eshuis led the offense with 11 kills, and she was joined by Tyra Dykstra who had nine kills.
Dykstra’s appearance in the front line was a plus for the home fans as she appeared to be fully recovered from a previous injury.
Meridian was led by Melanie Short who had 13 kills and eight digs.
Eden Bernardy added six kills and 10 digs, while Kendall Stacy had 22 assists and Amelia Koning led her team with three aces.
