LYNDEN 3, SEHOME 2

Lynden senior Finley Parcher finished with 30 kills on the night, and she needed every last one of them as the Lions went on the road and outlasted the Mariners.
It was undoubtedly the match of the season, as the Lions came into top ranked in the state and undefeated, and Sehome was ranked sixth in the state, and riding an eight-game winning streak.
The last time that Lynden lost a volleyball match was almost two years ago in a loser-out match in the 2A district tournament, and it was against Sehome.
The Mariners struck first with a nail-biting 27-25 win, and that was just the second time all season that the Lions had dropped a set. Lynden then came back and won the next set 26-24 to tie things back up.
The Lions then won the pivotal third set 25-22, but Sehome bounced back to take set number four 25-21. Of course the final set would only be won by two points, as Lynden prevailed 15-13.

Monster numbers were put up across the board, and maybe the most eye-popping was the 55 assists by Lion junior Izzie Stephan. Parcher was joined offensively at the net by Lexi Hermanutz who had 12 kills and Brooke McDonald who finished with 10 kills.
Senior Sarah McVie led the block party with 4.5, while Olivia Stuart and Stephan each had 3.5 blocks and McDonald added three as well. Kasey DeJong had a pair of aces to go with her 13 digs, while Hermanutz led the team with 16 digs. Hadley Lamp added 11 digs, and Parcher finished with 10.
Numerous outstanding efforts were also put forth by the Mariners, which included Taylor Turrell who had 47 assists and 11 digs.
Paige Flory finished with 19 kills and 10 digs, and Radler Rosellison had 15 kills, 18 digs and three aces. Jackie Hurley had a whopping 28 digs, while Brooklyn Flamer put up a career-high 16 kills from her middle position. Sophia Gage also had three blocks to lead the Mariners.
MOUNT BAKER 3, BLAINE 0

The Mountaineers won the first two sets at home by the same score of 25-12, but the Borderites made the home team work for it in the third set as Mount Baker eventually pulled it out with a 29-27 win.

Blaine was led by Livia Weeda who had all three of her team’s blocks, as well as 13 of her team’s 23 kills.
Cailtin Phelps-McDonald finished with 21 digs, while Lexi Black had seven digs and a team-high three aces. Rileyann Granstrom had 15 assists as the Borderites are still looking for their first victory of the season.
