Squalicum 4, Meridian 1
Junior Maddox Strickland recorded a hat trick in the first 20 minutes of the contest, which pushed his Whatcom County lead of goals scored to 30 on the season. After that, goals were traded back and forth by Squalicum’s Rylan Jenkins and Meridian’s Eli Hays.
Lynden 4, Lynden Christian 2
Lion senior Eddie Briseno scored a goal and assisted Malachi Koenen on two more goals as the Lions took the battle of Lynden at Bender Fields. Branden Gonzalez also scored his first goal of the season for Lynden. Both of the Lyncs’ goals came from junior Harvest Howell who scored on a penalty kick and a free kick.
Ferndale 4, Blaine 1
The Golden Eagles were led by Andrey Savenko who scored a pair of goals as they picked up the road win over the Borderites. Ferndale also received goals from Ahanu Fasani and Evan Saxman. Blaine’s goal tied the game at 1-1 when a free kick by Dima Yuryev traveled about 50 yards before Wade Lottimer was able to guide it into the net.
Sehome 5, Nooksack Valley 1
The Mariners led 3-1 at the midway break behind goals from Kevin Schroeder, Marcus McConaughy and Alec Langholz. The Pioneer goal came from Chris Moncada-Castillo, his seventh of the season. The score remained 3-1 for the majority of the second half, until late goals by Jack Cooper and Langholz put the game out of reach.
Mount Vernon 2, Bellingham 0
The Bayhawks fought hard, had opportunities against the Bulldogs, but just weren’t able to capitalize at home.
Lakewood 8, Mount Baker 0
The Mountaineers were unable to pick up their first win on the season on the road against the 2A Cougars.
