Last Tuesday, the Lyncs gave up six runs in the first inning, and eventually took their first loss of the season. It had only taken Blaine an inning and half to take an 8-0 lead after Josh Cochran sent the first pitch of the game out of the park. He followed that with a two RBI double in the top of the second and his teammates piled on five more runs before LC even had their second round at the plate. In the bottom of the third, Eli Maberry started the rally of the Lyncs, knocking in Logan Davis for LC’s first run of the game. Brayden Engels, Eli Stamps and Sam Kok all collected RBIs before Vance Elton drove in two more runs on a triple. Elton scored on a wild pitch and suddenly, it was an 8-7 game heading into the fourth. The Lyncs tacked on three more runs and the Borderites knocked in another two runs to make it 10-10 in the bottom of the sixth. That’s when Sam Kok crossed home plate after an error in the field for the eventual game-winning run. Kok also pitched the final two innings to pick up his Whatcom County-leading fourth win of the season.
