The Mariners got off to a fast start, by beating the Pioneers 25-9 in the first set. Nooksack Valley improved in the next two, but still fell to Sehome 25-18 and 25-16.

Sophomore Hayden Niewiadomski posted a double-double with 19 kills and 12 digs to go along with her three blocks. Junior setter Emmy Lee led all her hitters to high hitting efficiencies with 31 assists, while also posting two kills, four digs and two aces.

Senior libero Molly Burfeind collected three aces and 12 digs, while senior Ava Lehn finished with four kills and an ace.

Pioneer senior Lainey Kimball led her team with seven aces, and senior Juliana Gimmaka had team-highs in aces with four and digs with nine.

 

LAKEWOOD 3, MOUNT BAKER 0

Nutting

The Mountaineers were outmatched in their home opener, and lost in three straight sets.

They were led by the four kills of sophomore Amariah Nutting, who also had two digs. Junior Annalee Cohn finished with four digs, two kills and seven assists, and sophomore Maddi Lewis had three kills and an ace.

 

BELLINGHAM 3, MOUNT VERNON 1

The Bayhawks won in four sets, to put them at 2-1 on the season, and in conference play.
