  • Ferndale 60, Mountlake Terrace 27

The Golden Eagles got their first win of the year on Saturday afternoon, mainly due to a 17-2 run in the second quarter which was elevated by 3-point baskets by seniors Mallory Butenschoen and Maleah Singson.

Ferndale his eight total shots from beyond the arc, with Singson leading the way with three of them.

Sophomore Jillea Fox led the way with 18 points, and she was followed closely with Butenschoen who finished with 14 points.

Sophomore guard Kayla Washington continued to show excellence from the foul line by hitting three of her four attempts.

  • Squalicum 50, Kingston 36

Junior center Loretta Murphy-Kangas had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Storm to victory at home.

Senior point guard Mari Binning had 10 points along with a team-high four assists, three steals and three rebounds. She was also a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul line.

The lightning quick hands of senior guard Makayla Heaton enabled her to snag eight steals to go along with her nine points and seven rebounds, and freshman guard Carlie Kiesau also had nine points, on three 3-pointers.

  • Meadowdale 50, Lynden Christian 44

18 points in the fourth quarter, including a trio of three-pointers, wasn’t enough for the Lyncs as their comeback fell short on the road.

The Mavericks led 13-6 after the first quarter, and held a 26-16 lead at halftime.

Sophomore guard Ella Fritts led the way with 12 points, half of which she scored in the final period.
