LYNDEN 3, MOUNT BAKER 0

The Lions got their 10th win of the season last night, defeating the Mountaineers 25-14, 25-18 and 25-19. Numerous Lynden players got in the mix, and they were led by Haylee Koetje who had nine kills and 13 digs, while Grace Rice had numerous assists to go along with her six kills, eight digs and two blocks. Rian Stephan (seven kills), Kayla DeJong (six kills), Jos Sipma (five kills), Ava Langstraat (four kills) and Kiya Nyhoff (two kills) all had big games at the net. Defensively, the Lions were led by Mya VanderYacht (23 digs), Kasi Thomas (six digs) and Lucy White (five digs). They all each had a pair of aces as well. Mount Baker was led by Grace Lavergne who had 14 kills, 18 digs and two blocks.

BURLINGTON-EDISON 3, FERNDALE 0

In an extremely close battle, the Tigers narrowly got the best of the Golden Eagles, 26-24, 26-24 and 25-23. Morgan Hayes led Ferndale with 17 kills, 12 digs and two aces. Tia Gilday had five kills and four blocks at the net, and Mallory Butenschoen had seven digs and three aces.

“Burlington is a strong team, and I am proud of my players for playing them as tough as they did,” Ferndale coach Patti Hoelzle said in an email. “This match will help us prepare for us postseason matchups against our district and state 3A teams.”
