The Mountaineers got off to a hot start, leading 8-0 early in the first set, and they ultimately defeated the Turks 25-20, 25-18 and 25-11. Grace Lavergne led the way with

seven aces, five kills and 17 assists. Trinity Anderson also had a strong performance with eight kills and three aces.

Defensively, Rylee Ross and Ashlynn Cloninger combined for 15 digs, while Kaitlyn Rosenburg and Taite Reardon were strong in the middle, each registering two blocks.

“Everyone contributed positively to the outcome on and off the court,” Mount Baker coach Brittany Ross said. “It was a great start to the season.”

The Mountaineers (1-0) will host Ferndale at 7:00 on Thursday.

LA CONNER 3, SEHOME 0

The Mariners got off to a rough start on the road, losing three straight sets to the Braves on the road, 25-11, 25-6 and 25-20.

“We found or rhythm a bit too late,” Sehome coach Zach Callen said. “However, the team did a great job staying engaged and completing.”

The Mariners (0-1) will travel to Blaine tonight to take on the Borderites at 7:00.
