Seahawks Shut Out Bayhawks

BELLINGHAM – It was a battle between two 2-0 teams on Thursday night at Civic Stadium. The only difference was that one of them was the two-time defending state champions, and despite nearly 200 yards of penalties going against Anacortes, the Seahawks still defeated Bellingham 68-0.

Anacortes scored 10 touchdowns, and amassed 529 yard of offense on 43 plays. And defensively, the Seahawks held the Bayhawks to 27 yards on 42 plays.

Most impressive was the offensive line for Anacortes, which opened up huge holes all game, and allowed the Seahawks to average over 14 yards per rushing play.

Bellingham had brief moments of celebration, including a blocked kick from senior linebacker Sonny Powell, a quarterback sack from senior nose tackle Josh Kroll and an interception from senior safety Owen Hanstead. It was Hanstead’s 11th career interception, the most by any active player this season in Whatcom County.

The Bayhawks (2-1) will try to regroup next week when they travel to Archbishop Murphy (2-0) on Friday to take on the Wildcats at 7:00.
