EVERETT – Sehome was missing numerous key starters on both sides of the ball, and Archbishop Murphy played up to its usual standards. The result was a 56-7 win by the Wildcats over the Mariners at Terry Ennis Stadium on Friday night.
The scariest thing on this Halloween night was the overall efficiency of Archbishop Murphy.
The Wildcats scored six touchdowns in first quarter, three on offense, two on defense and one on special teams. In fact, their first three rushing plays of the game all went for touchdowns.
Sehome fought hard, and was led by senior Tyson Goodman who lined up at running back for the first time in his varsity career, and he finished with 123 yards from scrimmage. That’s pretty great, considering the entire team had 134 yards from scrimmage.
It didn’t end there for Goodman, as he also led his team on defense with seven tackles, two tackles for loss and he also blocked a field goal.
The Mariners scored their lone touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter when sophomore quarterback Jadden Geiger hit senior tight end Carter Duckworth from three yards out.
Senior defensive lineman Cole Turrell also had a tackle for loss for Sehome.
The Mariners (5-4) will host Selah (5-4) at 2:00 on Saturday at Civic Stadium for a chance to get back to the state tournament.
