OKANOGAN – Last year at this point, the Lyncs were 1-2, and still trying to find their identity. Right now, they are 3-0, after playing the same three teams, and their identity is toughness, aggression and precision.

Lynden Christian used all three of those assets on the road as it defeated Okanogan 49-7 on Friday night.
Senior quarterback Eli Maberry was on target once again, as he completed 18 of his 21 pass attempts for 207 yards and four touchdowns. He has now completed at least four touchdown passes in each of the first three games this season.
Three of his touchdown passes were completed to his favorite target, and cousin, senior wide receiver Boyce Robertson who finished the night with seven receptions for 112 yards. Maberry also threw a deep ball to 6-foot-4 junior Kaden Veldman who came down with a 31-yard touchdown reception.

The defense was also on top of its game for the third week in a row, and when seniors Treyson Johnson and Gunner DeKoster combined to force a fumble early in the second quarter it was scooped up by junior defensive back Wyatt Kamphouse who took it 21 yards for a touchdown.
The run game was also quite dominant with Chris Kooiman leading the attack. The 6-foot-4 225-pound junior tailback carried the ball 15 times, and he broke tackles, and stiff-armed his way to a career-high 148 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson also picked up 44 yards on the ground on offense, while also leading the defense with five tackles, a tackle for loss, two forced fumbles and a quarterback sack.
The Lynden Christian defense also got interceptions from senior Hayden Herwerden and sophomore Gavin VanLoo.
The Lyncs (3-0) will be traveling east of the mountains again on Saturday when they play Lakeside-Nine Mile Falls (2-1) at noon.
