Lummi Nation Begins Defense of Title Successfully

SPOKANE – The Blackhawks shot 69.2% in the first half, as they took care of business in the quarterfinal round of the 1B state tournament by defeating Neah Bay 70-48.

Senior guard Jerome Toby had a hand in the hot shooting as he connected on 10-of-16 from the field for a team-high 20 points. He also dished out five assists.

Senior center Chayce Waite-Kellar dominated on the inside as he made 8-of-9 field goal attempts for 16 points, to go with his 14 rebounds.

Junior guard Dyson Edwards played his usual terrific all-around game as he added 12 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Lummi Nation was also able to unload the entire bench as every player that suited up was able to get into the scoring column.

The Blackhawks (25-1-1) will now face DeSales (22-4) tomorrow at 3:45 for a chance to get back to the state championship game.
