MARYSVILLE – For the second week in a row, Lynden ran less than 30 plays on offense. And, for the third week in a row, the Lions came out on top, this time with a 49-0 win over Marysville-Pilchuck at Quil Ceda Stadium on Friday night.

The overall skill, speed and size of Lynden was too much for the Tomahawks to handle, as senior running back Max Assink carried the ball just seven times, but totaled 163 yards and three touchdowns. They all took place in the first half.
Junior quarterback Lukas Lalji also tossed a 46-yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Sam Arango.
The Lions third stringers were on display in the second half, and it saw touchdown runs from sophomores Markus Koenen and Austin Postma, as well as junior Dawson VanDalen. VanDalen finished with 71 yards on the ground on four carries.
As a team, Lynden averaged almost 18 yards per carry.
The defense was led by linemen senior Zay Harris and junior Zach Dykstra, each of whom had multiple stops behind the line of scrimmage. Lynden senior Quinn Tolsma also pulled down an interception.
The Lions (3-0) will face the ultimate test at home on Friday when they host Anacortes (3-0) at 7:00.
