RENTON – It wasn’t so much that the magic wore off for the Golden Eagles, it was more that they ran into a top-ranked team with a roster full of guys that will play on Saturday afternoons as O’Dea beat Ferndale 49-0 at Renton Memorial Stadium on Friday night.

If you listened to the game on the radio, you could hear it in the announcer’s voices. The Fighting Irish are that good. And, if you were watching in person, you may have mistaken O’Dea for the USC Trojans. Not only because their uniforms are nearly identical, but the team’s speed and size was pretty close, too.
The Fighting Irish ran just 15 plays in the first half, and averaged nearly 30 yard per play as they rolled up 49 points before the midway break.
The second half ran fast with the running clock in affect, and no points were scored.
Ferndale junior running back Elliot Lenssen led his team offensively with 54 yards on 16 carries, while senior quarterback Nolan Boleak passed for 62 yards.
Junior defensive tackle Braeden Hendrickson recovered a fumble, while Lenssen and senior defensive end Tom Gallo each had tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
The Golden Eagles finished the season with a record of 5-6.
