The Pioneers survived a strong third quarter by the Mountaineers, which saw Mount Baker take a one-point lead when sophomore guard Kalyn Abitia buried down a three, but Nooksack Valley was able to pull away and pick up the double-digit victory on the road.
Senior guard Payton Bartl posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and senior center Grace DeHoog did the same with 12 points and 18 rebounds.

Both needed to step up after senior guard Chayleigh Davis went down in the first half with an injury, and didn’t return. Former Mountaineer Natalie VanLiew also had nine points as she had a strong second half, and junior forward Raegan Burke knocked down a key three-pointer early in the fourth quarter to help build the separation of scores.
Mount Baker junior center Rebeca Soares led her team with 18 points, 15 rebounds, four blocked shots and three steals despite taking a spill in the second quarter which removed her from the game until the beginning of the second half. A cut on her chin was patched together so she could finish the game.
