The Borderites connected on six of their first 12 shot attempts to begin the game, and led 22-14 after one quarter of play. The two teams then played even throughout the rest of the game as Blaine picked up its first conference win of the season.
Senior forward Aaliyah Bowman led Blaine with 22 points and 11 rebounds, and she also added four steals.
Senior guard Brietta Sandell connected on 5-of-11 from beyond the arc to finish with 15 points, and junior forward Kate Koreski did a little bit of everything as she ended her night with 10 points, 10 steals, seven assists and six rebounds.

After being outscored by double-digits in the each of the first two quarters, the Bayhawks outscored the Bulldogs 16-13 in the third quarter, but it wouldn’t be enough as Mount Vernon forced 29 turnovers, which allowed them to shoot 30 more shots than Bellingham.
Junior forward Merritt Jensen was strong in the paint as she finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds, both of which led the Bayhawks.
Sophomore guard Lucy Holland had eight points and four steals, and senior center Mary Lockhart added six points, eight rebounds and three assists.
