The Lyncs survived a second-half scare from the defending state champion Vikings and grabbed the win, which vaulted them into the quarterfinal round of the 1A state tournament at the Yakima SunDome.

Lynden Christian has placed 4th or better at every state tournament since 2006.

A couple of early three-pointers by senior guard Ella Fritts set the tone, and the Lyncs led 28-16 at the half. Fritts finished with 13 points, six rebounds and two blocked shots, all of which led her team.

Junior center Jocelyn Eshuis added 12 points, and junior guard Ellie Pierce scored eight points, but it was her seven assists and three steals that really got the Lyncs going.

Lynden Christian will now play at 7:15 on Thursday against the winner of Wednesday’s game between Annie Wright and Montesano.

The lead was 28-24 for Nooksack Valley going into the fourth, but the Knights clawed back to pick up the upset win.

Bartl finished with a team-high 17 points, and connected on five 3-pointers. She also finished her career with an amazing 120 three-pointers made.

Senior center Grace DeHoog scored nine points to go with her 19 rebounds, and junior forward Raegan Burke added five points and four boards.
