The first quarter of the 2A district championship game played relatively even, especially when the Wildcats drained an extremely deep three-pointer to end the quarter to tie it up at 12-12. However, a 11-3 charge from the Lady Lions to start the second would help them take a 30-19 lead at halftime.

Tough defense in the third quarter by Archbishop Murphy halted Lynden’s usual scoring chances, as junior guard Finley Parcher was held scoreless in the period, but that wouldn’t last as she ripped off 10 points in the fourth, which was part of a 17-5 run by the Lions to finish the game and stay undefeated on the season.

Parcher finished with 25 points, nine rebounds and two steals.

Senior forward Payton Mills knocked down 3-of-6 from beyond the arc and ended with 12 points and seven rebounds, and junior guard Lexi Hermanutz added nine points, eight boards and an impressive five blocked shots.

It took over five minutes of game time for the Lady Blackhawks to hit their first shot, but they were still able to lead 13-10 after the first quarter, as well as a 5-point lead at the half.

The Wildcats came out of the mid-way break on fire, and went on a 16-0 run to begin the third quarter, and Lummi Nation was never able to catch back up.

Eighth grade guard Jordan Reeder connected on five 3-pointers and led her team with 23 points.

Senior forward Ailina Rabang finished with nine points, eight rebounds, five steals and three assists, and junior guard Jemma James had nine points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Senior guard Brianna Metteba scored seven points and grabbed eight rebounds, and sophomore forward LaRaya Dennis added seven rebounds and two blocked shots.
