Parcher

The Lady Lions were on a mission last night in the semifinal round of the 2A district tournament. They scored the first 27 points of the game, and were up 44-4 by the half, on their way to winning their 70th straight game, and clinching a spot in the 2A state tournament.

Junior guard Finley Parcher made all 12 of her field goal attempts, including a three-pointer, which was the 100th of her career. She even outscored her opponents 25-20, and also had five rebounds and three steals.

Senior forward Payton Mills was 8-of-12 from the field for 17 points, and she dished out four assists.

Junior guard Lexi Hermanutz snared a team-high five steals, senior forward Rian Stephan grabbed six boards and sophomore center Emily Dykstra blocked six shots in the final four minutes of the game.

Thompson

A win in the semifinal round of the 2A district tournament would have sent the Storm to the state tournament for the first time in 16 years, but the Wildcats put a temporary halt on Squalicum’s wishes as they bombarded the Storm with shot after shot and took the win.

Archbishop Murphy’s quick passing and dead-eye shooting may have only been surpassed by it’s offensive rebounding as Squalicum wasn’t able to register a defensive rebound until the second quarter, when the Wildcats were already up by 20 points.

Junior forward Tiana Thompson led the Storm with seven points as she connected on her only three-point attempts, as well as all four of her foul shots.

Junior guard Lexi Robbins added six points on a pair of deep balls, and junior forward Addison Kettman had team highs with four rebounds and three steals.

Squalicum will take on Lakewood at 7:30 on Monday at Lynden High School in a loser-out contest.

Jensen

The Bayhawks went toe-to-toe with the Cougars in an elimination game of the 2A district tournament, but just fell short as Lakewood was able to stay alive.

Bellingham was only able to connect on 3-of-15 from the foul line, and the Cougars made key shots in big moments.

Junior forward Merritt Jensen made 9-of-18 from the field for a team-high 18 points. She also grabbed 13 rebounds to become the first player in school history to reach 200 rebounds in a single season. The prior record was held by Sara Bergner at 187, which she had held for 21 years.

Senior center Mary Lockhart added eight points and eight rebounds in her final varsity game, and sophomore guard Elise Holland grabbed five steals.
