By beating Blaine earlier in the week, it meant that the Trojans would match up against the top-seeded Lyncs on the road. And, Lynden Christian showed why it was the top seed in its complete victory over Meridian.

Senior guard Ella Fritts led the Lyncs with 25 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field. She also made 5-of-6 from beyond the three-point line, and finished with five assists, five steals and three blocks.

Burke

The Mountaineers held a 24-12 advantage with 2:37 left in the first half, which prompted the Pioneers to call a timeout, and whatever Nooksack Valley head coach Shane Wichers said in that huddle must have really hit home, because from there the Pioneers went on to score 44 points, and held Mount Baker to just 23 points as they rallied the Valley to take the 1A district tournament semifinal win at home.

One player that came up big for Nooksack Valley was junior forward Raegan Burke who hit back-to-back three-pointers just before halftime, which closed the gap to just four points at the midway break.

She then did it again in the third quarter, with the first one tying the game and the second one giving the Pioneers a 33-30 lead with 3:24 in the third. Nooksack Valley never looked back after that.

Senior guard Payton Bartl led the Pioneers with 17 points, which included going 4-for-4 at the foul line in the final period. She also grabbed 10 rebounds and had three assists.

Soares

Senior center Grace DeHoog posted a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, and senior guard Chayleigh Davis added 10 points, four assists and four blocked shots.

The Mountaineers were led by Rebeca Soares who finished with 24 points, 16 rebounds and three blocked shots while playing all 32 minutes.

Sophomore guard Kalyn Abitia knocked down three jumpers early on to held give Mount Baker its early boost, and sophomore forward Aurora George added five points.

The Mountaineers also welcomed back junior guard Violet Fox, but early foul trouble limited her minutes throughout the game. She knocked down all four of her foul shots, and also grabbed five rebounds.

Nooksack Valley will now face Lynden Christian for the 1A district championship at 5:40 on Tuesday at Lynden High School, and Mount Baker will take on Meridian in a loser-out contest at 5:40 on Friday night at Lynden High School.
