The Storm continued to roll early in the season by defeating a talented Golden Eagle team. Maddox Strickland scored twice for Squalicum, which brought his season total to five goals after just two games. The Storm also received goals from Jayden Bak, Isaac Grimes, David Leslie and Rylan Jenkins.
Bellingham 5, Nooksack Valley 0
The Bayhawks locked in their second shutout in a row to begin the season, this time it was in their home opener against the Pioneers. Senior Oliver Ochs led the attack with two goals scored. Bellingham also received goals from senior Sloan Jorgenson as well as sophomores Tyden O’Bryan and Qais Tucker.
Sehome 3, Meridian 2
The Mariners scored less than three minutes in when freshman Alec Langholz curved a corner kick that hit the back of the goal and went into the net. Roughly 10 minutes later, Sehome was back at it when senior Mason Ivcevic scored a goal. The score remained 2-0 for the rest of the first half, and the second half started out with a goal from Trojan sophomore Adrian Meza. Meridian senior Skyler Rowe then tied it up with a header off a corner kick with 20 minutes left in the match. Sehome junior Jasper Smith then returned the favor in the final minutes when he scored on a header off a corner kick for the eventual game winner.
Lakewood 3, Lynden 2
The Lions got on the board first when a free kick was headed in by sophomore Markus Koenen. Lakewood then evened the score, but Lynden was able to take the lead in the final minutes of the first half when senior Eddie Briseno scored on a penalty kick, and the Lions led 2-1 at the half. The Cougars scored early in the second half to tie it back up, and they then scored the eventual game-winner in the closing minutes of the contest.
Oak Harbor 5, Blaine 1
The 3A Wildcats led 2-0 at the half and scored two quick goals early in the second half. The Borderites then got on the board when junior Rogin Trangia knocked in a header off a corner kick. Oak Harbor then scored the final goal of the game.
