Melton

It had all the makings to be the boys basketball upset of the year, as the Borderites took the lead a little over a minute into the game, and held onto it until a few minutes into the fourth quarter.

The final six minutes of the game featured numerous ties and lead changes, and a six-foot jumper by junior forward Landon Brown put Blaine within a point of the heavily favored Cubs with one minute remaining. Numerous empty possessions by both squads soon followed, and the Borderites failed to get a good look at the basket in the closing seconds as they fell on the road.

Junior guard Dawson Dohner led Blaine with 16 points, and he knocked down 4-of-10 from beyond the arc.

Senior forward Landon Melton poured in 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while senior Daniel Banks and junior Peyton Bouma each had six points and six rebounds. Banks also had a team-high four assists.
