Nooksack Valley 71, Meridian 43

The Pioneers shot their way to 20 points in the first quarter, and then defended their way to a victory in the final game of the 1A district tournament. The victory put Nooksack Valley into the 1A state tournament for the first time in 15 years.
The Pioneers connected on eight deep balls, with senior guards Jayden Anderson and Crew Bauman hitting three each.
Anderson finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, and Bauman notched 11 points, five rebounds and four steals.
Senior guard Cole Coppinger scored a game-high 16 points, with most of his damage done at the foul line where he was 11-for-15.

Senior guard Owen Wichers added 10 points and five assists, and junior forward Dane Ackerman grabbed eight rebounds.
The Trojans were led by senior center Daniel Larsen and junior guard Pierce Brzozowski, each of whom scored 10 points after playing less than 24 hours ago to stay alive in the tournament.
Guards Emmett Ashmore and L.D. Webster each had three assists, and junior guard Trey Alexander pulled down a team-high six rebounds.
Meridian’s season came to a close with a record of 7-17.
Nooksack Valley will battle ninth-seeded Fort Vancouver in the regional round of the state tournament this weekend in a loser-out contest. The time, place and date are yet to be determined.

Lummi Nation 59, Tulalip Heritage 44

The Blackhawks continued their dominant season with a fourth win over the rival Hawks in the 1B tri-district championship game.
The game was close throughout the first three quarters, but Lummi Nation pulled away in the fourth to make it a double-digit victory.
Senior point guard Jerome Toby shot 8-for-15 from the field and 7-for-9 from the foul line as he led the Blackhawks with 23 points and four assists.
Junior guard Dyson Edwards added 12 points, and junior guard Landon LaFontaine added nine points. They each also pulled down four rebounds.
Senior center Chayce Waite-Kellar snagged a team-high 11 boards to go with his seven points and two blocked shots.
Lummi Nation received the number 1 seed and will face Wahkiakum in the regional round of the 1B state tournament. The date, location and time are yet to be determined.
