MERIDIAN 3, LYNDEN CHRISTIAN 2

Last season, the final volleyball match for these two teams was against each other for 7th place in the 1A state tournament, which the Lyncs won in straight sets.
It was looking eerily similar on Wednesday night at Diane Axelson court in Laurel when Lynden Christian won the first two sets, both by the score of 25-18.
However, the Trojans were able to find a soft spot in the LC defense, and was able to rally to win the next three sets 25-18, 25-17 and 15-12.

Sophomore Melanie Short led Meridian with 19 kills, 16 digs and six aces, and she was aided by junior Eden Bernardy who added 16 kills and 13 digs.
Senior middles Gracie Pap and Taya Benson had seven kills a piece, senior Chloe Bressler handed out 45 assists and senior libero Kinsley Neal finished with 10 digs.
The Lynden Christian front line totaled 10 blocks on defense, with 6-foot-2 junior Jocelyn Eshuis leading the way with four. She also added six kills, three aces and three digs.
Sophomore Tyra Dykstra had a team-high 18 kills, and senior Ella Fritts finished with 40 assists, eight digs and two blocks.

The sheer size and athleticism was hard to match at home as the Lions defeated the Borderites in straight sets, 25-9, 25-10 and 25-7.

Lynden served up 17 aces, and was led in that category by senior Campbell DeJong who posted seven. Junior Finley Parcher had a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs, and DeJong led the way with 15 digs.
Senior Rian Stephan added seven kills, six digs, four blocks and three aces, while sophomore Izzie Stephan finished with 25 assists.
Blaine was led by junior Teia Dube who finished with three kills and 10 digs, and senior Paige Dominick who had a team-high 11 digs.
