LYNDEN CHRISTIAN 3, BELLINGHAM 1

Meyer

The Lyncs and Bayhawks battled back and forth in the first set, with Lynden Christian getting the narrow 25-23 win, and Bellingham struck back in the second set to win 25-21.

The Lyncs made some adjustments and were able to take the next two sets, 25-13 and 25-21 to give the Bayhawks their first loss of the season.

Sophomore Sadie Meyer flew through the air for 16 kills, and junior Jocelyn Eshuis was right behind her with 10 kills. Senior Ella Fritts set the table wonderfully, as she finished with 43 assists to go along with her four kills and 10 digs. Junior Charlotte Miller served up four aces, and junior libero Lyla Parriera led her team with 14 digs.

Lockhart

Bellingham made a few adjustments to its lineup, including moving sophomore Sonoma Smith to libero where she had a team-high 13 digs to go along with four aces.

The Bayhawks were also led by senior Mary Lockhart‘s team-high 11 kills and seven aces along with her eight digs. Senior Jayda Knutsen had seven kills, six digs and four aces and junior Merritt Jensen added five kills and two blocks.

Junior setter Lulu Munro not only had 20 assists for Bellingham, but also helped with the singing of the National Anthem before the game.

 

LYNDEN 3, MERIDIAN 2

Parcher

The Trojans took the Lions to the limit on the road, and won the first two sets 25-22 and 25-20. Lynden rallied to take the third set 25-23, and the fourth set was a thriller that couldn’t gone either way in multiple occasions. It ended when Lion junior Finley Parcher perfectly placed a touch kill which gave Lynden a 29-27 win, and sent the match into the fifth set, which the saw the Lions complete the comeback and win 15-10.

Parcher ended her night with 27 kills and 15 digs, and she was closely followed by fellow junior Lexi Hermanutz who had 15 kills and 13 digs.

Pap

The Lynden defense was patrolled by senior Campbell DeJong who finished with 24 digs, and senior Rian Stephan who added 22 digs and three blocks. Junior Sarah McVie served up four aces, and sophomore Izzie Stephan distributed 46 assists.

Meridian sophomore Melanie Short also posted a double-double with 21 kills and 11 digs, and senior Gracie Pap was a force at the net with 11 kills and five blocks.

Junior Eden Bernardy hustled her way to nine kills to go along with her team high’s of four aces and 17 digs, and senior libero Kinsely Neal also had 11 digs, while senior setter Chloe Bressler dished out 42 assists.

 

SQUALICUM 3, BLAINE 0

Thompson

The Storm took care of business in three straight sets, 25-19, 25-20 and 25-23, and it was a very balanced attack as five different players for Squalicum had at least four kills.

Leading the way was junior Tiana Thompson who had nine kills and two blocks. Senior Jolie Paz had eight kills and seven digs, while freshman Avery Kettman finished with seven kills.

Phelps-McDonald

Juniors Bronwyn Jones and Raegan Wheeler each posted a team-high nine digs, and Jones also finished with five aces. Junior Alyssa Roselli added 27 assists, six digs, five kills and two aces.

The Borderites were without star junior Teia Dube, who was out sick, but they shuffled their lineup and were extremely competitive in all three sets.

Senior Ari Johnson led Blaine with eight kills, while senior Carly Saunders added five kills and five digs. Senior libero Hannah Phelps-McDonald led her team with six digs, and senior setter Ainslee Ellis had 15 assists.

 

FERNDALE 3, MOUNT BAKER 0

Berg

The Golden Eagles jumped out fast and won the first set 25-8, before the Mountaineers made it a lot closer in the second set, which Ferndale won 25-20. The Golden Eagles then wrapped it up in the third set with another 25-8 win at home.

Senior Caitlyn Berg launched six aces to lead Ferndale’s attack. Junior setter Brooklyn Larrabee totaled 31 assists and 10 digs, and her main recipients were junior Svetlana Baydak who had 11 kills and senior Kristen Solomon who finished with eight kills. Junior Sarvir Bhachu and sophomore Adelle Overson each had seven kills.

Lewis

Senior Katrina Ferry dug out a team-high 17 for Ferndale.

Mount Baker was led by senior Maddi Lewis who had four kills, seven digs and one ace. Sophomore setter Laila Porter finished with seven assists and senior Kylee Bruland led the Mountaineers with 11 digs.
