LYNDEN CHRISTIAN 3, NOOKSACK VALLEY 1

Wright

The Lyncs lost in five sets to both the Trojans and the Pioneers in the regular season, and defeated both of them in the district playoffs to earn the district championship.

Nooksack Valley came out strong, and won the first set 25-17, but Lynden Christian steadied out, played under control for the rest of the night, and took the next three sets 25-15, 25-19 and 25-17.

The 6-foot-2 LC duo of senior Alli Wright and junior Jocelyn Eshuis made play after play at the net, as the each finished with 10 kills and four blocks.

Rutgers

Sophomore Tyra Dykstra added seven kills and a team-high 15 digs, and junior Lyla Parriera had 13 digs and four aces. Senior Ella Fritts also put forth one of her best performances of the season when it was need most as she stuffed the stat sheet with 39 assists, seven kills, 12 digs, a block and an ace.

Pioneer senior Grace DeHoog led her team with both nine kills and 12 digs, while senior Gracie Rutgers finished with a game-high seven aces and junior Elizabeth DeLange put back five blocks.

Senior Payton Bartl handed out 27 assists, while senior Avery Juergens, junior Karson Olney and Rutgers each had 10 digs.

The Lyncs have clinched a spot in the state tournament, and Nooksack Valley will take on Meridian at 7:30 on Thursday at Meridian High School for the final state playoff spot.

 

MERIDIAN 3, BLAINE 0

Short

In an elimination game, the Trojans defeated the Borderites in straight sets, 25-19, 25-18 and 25-13.

Sophomore Melanie Short rose to the occasion in the loser-out game as she exploded for 19 kills, nine digs, two aces and two blocks to help keep her team alive.

Seniors Chloe Bressler and Gracie Pap each had three blocks, while Bressler also added 32 assists and seven digs.

Senior Taya Benson finished with eight kills, and junior Amelia Koning had a team-high 12 digs.

Phelps-McDonald

Blaine was led by junior Teia Dube who posted her final double-double of the season with 10 kills and 19 digs.

Senior Hannah Phelps-McDonald had 17 digs, and senior Ari Johnson added four kills and 11 digs.

Senior Ainslee Ellis had 17 assists, and senior Carly Saunders finished with a game-high four blocks.

Meridian will face Nooksack Valley at 7:30 on Thursday at Meridian High School for the final state playoff spot.

 

ARCHBISHOP MURPHY 3, SQUALICUM 0

Burns

The season came to and end for the Storm as they were taken down by the Wildcats 25-9, 25-23 and 25-12.

Senior Archer Burns led the offense with six kills, and junior Bronwyn Jones had 12 digs to lead the defense.

Freshman Avery Kettman had a team-high two blocks, senior Jolie Paz led her team with two aces and junior Alyssa Roselli dished out 14 assists.
