SQUALICUM 3, SEHOME 2

Burns

On senior night, all four of the Storm seniors were able to make big contributions in their thrilling five-set win over the Mariners at home.

Squalicum won the first two sets 25-22 and 25-21. Sehome flew out to a 6-0 lead in the third set, and was able to hold off the Storm at the end to win 25-23.

The Mariners then nearly doubled-up Squalicum 25-13 in the fourth set, but the Storm reached down deep to take the final set 15-11.

Senior Jolie Paz had a double-double with 15 kills and 18 digs, and senior Archer Burns added 14 kills and a pair of blocks. The senior theme continued with Gwen Foy totaling 13 digs, and Hannah Warner returned from a knee injury in limited action as a serving specialist where she had an ace to go with a pair of digs.

Junior Bronwyn Jones had a career-high 29 digs, and junior Raegan Wheeler added 17 digs, while junior Alyssa Roselli poured in 41 assists, nine digs and four kills. Junior Penelope Durias added eight kills and five digs, and fellow junior

Niewiadomski

Tiana Thompson had five kills and three blocks.

Sehome was led by senior Hayden Niewiadomski who racked up 23 kills and 10 digs.

Senior Anya Winter added 14 kills, and junior Paige Flory finished with 11 kills. Senior Makenna Andrews led with 23 digs, and senior Bridgette Adams had six kills, 13 digs and three blocks.

Sophomore Taylor Turrell dished out 46 assists to go with 14 digs, including an unforgettable kick-save dig.

 

LYNDEN CHRISTIAN 3, BURLINGTON-EDISON 2

Dykstra

The Lyncs got off to fast start, by taking the first two sets 25-12 and 25-18. It had looked like it would be a sweep for Lynden Christian, but the Tigers clawed back to get back into it and won the next two sets 25-18 and 25-21.

LC then regrouped to win the fifth set 15-10 on senior night.

Sophomore Tyra Dykstra led the offensive attack with 14 kills to go with her seven digs and three aces, while junior Sophie Senti had a team-high four aces.

The Lyncs were also powerful at the net with junior Jocelyn Eshuis who totaled 10 kills and 6.5 blocks and senior Alli Wright who added seven kills and five blocks.

Senior Ella Fritts finished with 43 assists, five kills, five digs and 2.5 blocks, and junior Lyla Parriera had a team-high 11 digs.

 

FERNDALE 3, LAKEWOOD 0

Ferry

The Golden Eagles took care of business at home by sweeping the Cougars 25-16, 25-13 and 25-17.

Senior Katrina Ferry led the defense with 18 digs, while she and junior Brooklyn Larrabee each had three aces. Larrabee also posted 30 assists, 10 digs and five kills.

Junior Svetlana Baydak had 10 kills, five digs and two aces, and senior Jillea Fox added seven kills and 1.5 blocks for Ferndale who was able to rotate 14 different players into the match.

 

NOOKSACK VALLEY 3, SEDRO-WOOLLEY 0

Bartl

The Pioneers went on the road and swept the Cubs 25-11, 25-15 and 25-22 to get back into the win column.

Senior Grace DeHoog had a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs, senior Payton Bartl had 35 assists and eight digs and junior Elizabeth DeLange totaled 10 kills and four blocks.

Senior Gracie Rutgers added seven and four digs, while senior Annie Stremler returned from a knee injury to put up five kills and junior Raegan Burke added three blocks.

Nooksack Valley also totaled 15 aces as a team with senior Avery Juergens, junior Karson Olney and DeLange serving up four each.

 

MERIDIAN 3, ANACORTES 0

Bernardy

The Trojans stayed hot and won their fifth match in a row as they defeated the Seahawks 25-18, 25-19 and 25-19.

Sophomore Melanie Short finished with 20 kills on a .469 hitting percentage to lead Meridian offensively.

Junior Eden Bernardy added 10 kills and a whopping eight aces, and senior Gracie Pap had nine kills.

Senior Chloe Bressler handed out 37 assists to go with nine digs and two blocks, and senior Kinsley Neal finished with eight digs.
