EVERETT 3, FERNDALE 2

Pietig

The Seagulls won the first set 25-20 before the Golden Eagles swooped in to take the next two, 25-15 and 25-23.

Everett was then able to squeak out wins in the next two sets 25-23 and 17-15 to stamp its first ticket to the state tournament in 15 years.

Ferndale had numerous chances late, but just couldn’t lock it down.

Junior outside hitter Svetlana Baydak led the offensive attack with 22 kills to go with her 16 digs.

Senior Katrina Ferry had a team-high 25 digs, while junior Ashley Pietig added 18 digs.

Junior setter Brooklyn Larrabee starred once again with 44 assists, 19 digs, nine kills and four aces, and the Golden Eagles will try to keep their season alive on Saturday when they face Snohomish tomorrow at noon in a winner-to-state/loser-out contest at Stanwood High School.
