SEHOME 3, ARCHBISHOP MURPHY 1

Niewiadomski

The Mariners not only won their way into the 2A state tournament for the first time since 2019, but did it by defeating the team that knocked them out of districts last season for the final spot at state.

Sehome defeated the previously unbeaten Wildcats in the first set 25-22, but Archbishop Murphy put together multiple aces in the second set and won 25-13.

Tied at one set a piece, the Mariners put it together early on and jumped out to a 6-1 lead. The Wildcats came back to tie it up at 9-9, but Sehome then went on an 11-0 run with senior Bridgette Adams at the service line. A cross-court kill by senior Hayden Niewiadomski sealed the 25-14 win in the pivotal third set.

Turrell

Another kill by Niewiadomski at the end of the fourth set sealed the match as Sehome won 25-20.

Niewiadomski finished with 18 kills and 14 digs, and she was closely followed by junior Paige Flory who had 17 kills, seven digs and two aces.

Senior libero Makenna Andrews had a team-high 21 digs, and sophomore setter Taylor Turrell dished out 42 assists to go along with her 12 digs.
