Lynden Christian 8, Seton Catholic 5

The Cougars scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first, but The Lyncs quickly tied it up with a solo blast from Roxanne Lenning. The score remained tied for another inning and a half until Seton Catholic added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The season was on the line for Lynden Christian and after the first two batters were out to begin the top of the fifth, Hannah Terpstra lined a 3-0 pitch to centerfield for a double. Sara VanLoo followed up with a walk, and Taya Vander Kooi’s single to left field scored Terpstra to make it a 2-run game. Kortnee Tolsma kept the momentum on LC’s side with a walk, which set the stage for the lone senior Lync, Kassidy VanSoest, who came up to the plate with the bases loaded. She drove the third pitch she saw to right field, and cleared the bases with her first triple of the year, which gave Lynden Christian a 5-4 advantage. A bases-loaded double by Taylor Craig in the top of the seventh gave the Lyncs an 8-4 lead, and LC took care of business in the bottom of the seventh to secure the win. The Lyncs will play at 1:30 on Saturday against the loser of the semifinal game between Cedar Park Christian and Rochester.
