  • Lynden 67, Stanwood 24

Hermanutz

It was thought that the undefeated 3A Spartans would provide a pretty good test for the two-time defending 2A state champion Lions, but Lynden rolled out to a 40-7 lead at the half before taking the road win.

The tenacity of the Lion defense forced 22 turnovers, which led to fastbreak baskets for Lynden, which also out-rebounded Stanwood 25-11.

Junior guard Finley Parcher hit 10-of-14 from the field for a game-high 25 points.

Junior guard Lexi Hermanutz added 17 points, and she also led her team with five steals and four assists. Senior guard Reese Nyhoff came off the bench and didn’t miss a shot as she finished with eight points.

Bowman

The Borderites held a 13-12 lead at the half, and a big third quarter elevated their lead to 29-18 going into the fourth quarter.

The Bruins then went on a big run in the fourth, and was able to take the lead, until Blaine senior forward Aaliyah Bowman grabbed an offensive rebound, and was fouled on the putback, which she made.

She finished the old-school three-point play by sinking her free throw with two minutes left in the game, which tied the score at 37-37.

Cascade was then able to score the final five points of the game to steal the win on the road.

Bowman finished with 23 points and 18 rebounds to lead the Borderites.

Senior guard Kate Koreski added seven points and seven rebounds, and senior forward Mesa Puls pulled down nine rebounds.
