The Pioneers jumped out to a 7-0 lead after one inning, and it didn’t end there as they continued to tack on before taking the home win over the Seahawks. Senior catcher Alayna Dykstra had a huge game with a single, two doubles and homerun, while also driving in seven runs, to lead Nooksack Valley offensively. Senior shortstop Shelby Mason also drove in three runs and had a homerun as well. Alayna VanIeperen, Kennedy Burke, Payton Bartl and Dykstra each scored three runs, while Bartl and VanIeperen combined for five dominant innings in the circle.

The Borderites had twice as many hits as the Cougars, but five errors led to four unearned runs and Blaine suffered the home loss. Shaylie Daniels struck out four batters over five innings and also went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, a run batted in and a run scored. Brie Smith and Courtney Roff each had a pair of hits for the Borderites.
