The Mariners avoided a third straight playoff game going into penalty kicks when freshman Luke Yawitz scored in the final seconds of regulation to defeat the Bearcats to move on to the quarterfinals of the 2A state tournament. Sehome got on the board in the first half when senior Slater Hawk scored his second goal of the season. W.F. West tied the game at 1-1, and staved off numerous potential goals from the Mariners until Rudy Zurcher found Yawitz for the game-winner. The Mariners will play Cedarcrest on Saturday at 1:00 at Civic Stadium.
