In the regular season, back in late March, the Lyncs defeated the Borderites 3-2. Blaine got its revenge in the first round of the 1A district playoffs by beating Lynden Christian 2-0. In the rubber match, there was a lot more on the line, and the emotions ran high. The winner advances to bi-districts, and the loser has to pack it up for the season. The Borderites made the best of their chances as their leading scorer, Dima Yuryev, scored twice and the Lyncs were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. Harvest Howell had a goal called back on a hand-ball violation, and he also scored on a penalty kick. Blaine will now play at 7:00 against the Bush School at King’s High School for a berth in the 1A state tournament.
