Five days after these two squads played to a 1-1 tie to end the regular season, the Lions showed that they are peaking at the right time as they shut the Bayhawks out in the first round of the district tournament. Junior forward Ivan Garcia-Zapata scored twice, and Eddie Briseno also scored a goal for Lynden who now take on Sehome at 3:00 tomorrow at Harrington Field. Bellingham will face Marysville-Pilchuck at 11:00 tomorrow at Harrington Field in a loser-out contest.

 

Sehome 4, Marysville-Pilchuck 0

Fresh off a conference championship, the Mariners haven’t appeared to slow down as they took down the Tomahawks in the first round of the district tournament. Senior Grady Evans scored twice to lead Sehome, one on an assist from Liam Schumacher, and the other was assisted by Julian Herring. Keaton Hayes scored an unassisted goal, and Schumacher scored the final goal of the game, which came on an assist from Luke Yawitz. As stated above, the Mariners will now face Lynden at 3:00 tomorrow at Harrington Field.

 

Squalicum 2, Burlington-Edison 0

The Storm got back to their winning ways last night, as Cody McCaulley scored twice to lead Squalicum past Burlington-Edison in the first round of the district tournament. The two teams played their league matchup against each other in late March which ended in a scoreless tie. The win by the Storm sets them up to face Archbishop Murphy at 1:00 tomorrow at Harrington Field.
