The Mariners got on the board a little over 11 minutes into the game when senior Liam Schumacher put a left foot into the ball and through the back of the net, on an assist from senior Grady Evans. A little over 20 minutes later, Sehome had a free kick which ended up as a short pass to Schumacher. His shot was blocked by the diving goalie, and Evans was able to score off the rebound to make it a 2-0 lead for the Mariners. Bainbridge was able to score at the end of the first half, and Sehome’s defense clenched up in the second half to help the Mariners secure the third-place trophy. Sehome lost 1-0 in overtime the night before to Columbia River, who eventually went on to win the state championship.
