The Trojans kept their hot streak alive by defeating the Borderites and capturing their third straight district championship. Asher Todd scored the first goal of the game, and Meridian got two late goals from Skyler Rowe and Dakota Ng to seal the deal. The Trojans will now play on Saturday at 12:00 at Sammamish High School for a chance to get into the state tournament. Blaine is still alive and will take on Lynden Christian at 7:00 pm Wednesday at Blaine High School in a loser-out game.
Lynden Christian 2, Nooksack Valley 0
The Lyncs kept their season alive, and by doing so eliminated the Pioneers. Lynden Christian freshman goalkeeper Gavin VanLoo preserved the shutout while the first goal came from Jacob Penner, which was assisted by Harvest Howell. Howell then scored on an assist from Jackson Yun. The Lyncs will face Blaine at 7:00 on Wednesday at Blaine High School in another loser-out contest.
Sehome 2, Lynden 1
The game was tied at 1-1 after regulation time, as the Mariners got a goal from Rudy Zurcher, which was assisted by Liam Schumacher, and the Lions received a goal from Markus Koenen. Sehome goalie Bane Mitchell saved the first three penalty kicks, and the Mariners eventually won in penalty kicks when Blake Moore put one into the back of the net. The win advances Sehome to the district championship game where it will face Squalicum at 7:00 on Tuesday at Civic Stadium. Lynden is still alive and will face Burlington-Edison at 7:00 on Tuesday at Blaine High School.
Squalicum 2, Archbishop Murphy 0
After a rough final week to the regular season, the Storm remain as the lone team in the 2A district tournament that has yet to allow a goal, and by doing so they will defend their district championship against Sehome at 7:00 on Tuesday at Civic Stadium. Junior Kellen Savage scored both of Squalicum’s goals.
Bellingham 4, Marysville-Pilchuck 0
The Bayhawks kept their season alive by eliminating the Tomahawks in dominating fashion. Nathaniel Wilson scored twice, and Bellingham also got goals from Carson Brethauer and Qais Tucker, and the Bayhawks will attempt to keep their season alive once again on Tuesday when they travel to take on Archbishop Murphy at 6:00.
