Meridian 43, Blaine 40

The Borderites had the ball with 24 seconds left in the contest, and they were down 41-40, with a chance to go ahead, but the quickness of Trojan junior guard Trey Alexander allowed him to step in front of a pass and intercept it. He immediately fouled and sent to the free throw line.
Alexander, who was 1-for-4 at the line before these attempts, knocked down the two shots, and Blaine had another chance this time down by three with 16 seconds left.
Meridian’s sticky perimeter defense forced the Borderite three-point attempt to take place about eight feet beyond the arc. The shot was missed, and the Trojans were able to hold on for their first win of the season.

Junior guard Pierce Brzozowski finished with 13 points, 12 rebounds and four steals to lead Meridian.
Alexander added eight points, four assists and three steals, and senior center Daniel Larsen had six points and five boards.
The Borderites stuck to their six-man rotation for the entire game, and were led by senior forward Landon Melton who had 11 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Junior center Gus Dickson had eight points and 11 rebounds, and senior guard Kai Kerwin finished with seven points and seven assists.
Blaine struggled at the three-point line (1-for-15) and at the foul line (7-for-21).

Lynden 76, Ferndale 50

The Lions held a seven-point lead after one quarter, but went on a 28-5 run in the second quarter to break the game wide open before taking the victory.
Junior guard Malachi Koenen knocked down five of his seven 3-point attempts and finished with 20 points and four assists to lead Lynden.

Junior forward Lewis Whitney came off the bench to add 13 points and eight rebounds, and senior forward Spencer Adams had 10 points, six boards and a team-high five steals.
The Golden Eagles were led in scoring by sophomore guard Houston Wills who finished with 13 points, with senior forward Mantaj Singh right behind him with 12 points.
Senior guard Cooper Vincent pulled down a team-high eight rebounds for Ferndale.

The Lyncs led 17-9 after one quarter of play, and was able to maintain a strong lead the rest of the way behind the 16 points and 11 rebounds of junior forward Kaden Veldman.
Junior guards Dawson Hintz scored 15 points, and junior guard Gunnar Dykstra added 12 points, and they each also posted six assists and four steals.

Junior guard Harvest Howell also added 11 points, and knocked down 3-of-5 from beyond the three-point line.
The Mariners were led by senior forward Xavier Kelley who finished with 12 points, five rebounds and three blocked shots, all of which led his team.
Senior guard Klay Jackson knocked down a trio of three-pointers to finish with nine points, and senior guard Nolan Wright finished with six points and a game-high eight assists.

Blackhawk senior Chayce Waite-Kellar put on a show on the road as the 6-foot-8 center was 12-for-16 with five dunks, 24 points and 12 rebounds as Lummi Nation captured the monstrous win.
Junior forward Deandre James also racked up seven steals to go with his 12 points, and junior guard Dyson Edwards added 13 points and five assists.
Senior point guard Jerome Toby scored just four points, but had more fun distributing as he totaled 11 assists. Toby also finished with four steals.
Senior guard Isaiah Yrizarris scored eight points, as did junior guards Landon LaFontaine and Tre James.

The Mountaineers battled one of the top 2A teams in the area, but came up short at home.
Junior center Kell Reardon was 9-for-15 from the floor, and the 6-foot-6 Mountaineer finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds.
Sophomore forward Pepe McEvoy-Salgado added 11 points and nine rebounds, and junior guard Gage Smith finished with eight points, five rebounds and three assists.
Senior guard Jordan Bailey had seven points and five steals.
