In his varsity career, Ryder McGrath had pitched 128 innings coming into last night’s game. He knew that the next seven would likely be the most important seven of his career, and it took just 92 pitches as he tossed a one-hitter as the Mariners staved off elimination in the 2A district tournament. The lone run game in the top of the fourth when Gunnar Tweit singled to right field, and Brendan LaPlant scored later in the play on an error. McGrath struck out seven batters and walked just two. Leadoff hitter Hudson Neff hit a pair of singles and stole a base to lead the Sehome offense. The Mariners will now play Archbishop Murphy at 3:30 tomorrow at Daniels Field.

The Wildcats scored on a two-out single to left field in the top of the 10th, and the Lions weren’t able to answer in the bottom of the inning, which put an end to Lynden’s season at the 2A district tournament. Archbishop Murphy got on the board early with a run in the top of the first, and the Lions answered in the bottom of the second when Jaydin Oaks led off with a solo homerun. The Wildcats retook the lead in the top of the third with their second run of the game, and Lynden answered again with a double off the bat of Matthew Carroll which scored Gordy Bedlington from first base. The score remained tied for six innings until Archbishop Murphy broke through in the 10th. The Lions finished their season at 12-12.
