The game was tied 4-4 going into the final inning of play, and the Bayhawks were able to load the bases with just one out. Joe Harward scored from third base on a passed ball, and that was followed up by a two-run single off the bat of Ryan Neem which gave Bellingham a three-run lead. The Lions threatened when Gordy Bedlington tripled to lead off the bottom of the inning, and promptly scored on a ground out. Matthew Carroll then walked, and Alden Scott came in to replace Kai Nelson on the mound for the Bayhawks. He was able to get the next two batters out, and Bellingham will now move on to face Burlington-Edison at 3:30 tomorrow at Daniels Field in Anacortes. The season will be on the line for the Lions who will take on Lakewood at 10:00 AM tomorrow at Daniels Field.

The Wildcats used three straight base hits in the bottom of the eighth to score the lone run of the game and pick up the district tournament victory. Senior pitcher Ryder McGrath pitched the game of his life as he struck out 11 batters while allowing just five hits, no runs and no walks, but had to be was forced to leave the game because of the pitch count rule with one out to go in the seventh inning. McGrath and senior catcher Jackson Evans also picked up hits for the Mariners who will now face Squalicum tomorrow at 12:30 in an elimination game at Daniels Field in Anacortes.

Anacortes 11, Squalicum 1

The Seahawks scored eight runs over the first two innings as they took the first round victory over the Storm. A groundout off the bat of Max Wright scored Jayson Morrison from third base in the top of the second inning for Squalicum’s lone run. Eljas Lara also doubled earlier in the inning. The Storm will now face Sehome tomorrow at 12:30 in a loser-out contest at Daniels Field in Anacortes.
