Anacortes 5, Bellingham 4
The Bayhawks were playing in their first 2A district championship game in 13 years, and the Seahawks were defending their title from last year. Bellingham rallied from a 3-1 deficit with two outs in the top of the seventh when C.R. Griffith singled to left field. That was followed up by a single off the bat of Jasper Love, and Joe Harward reached on an error to load the bases. Junior slugger Alden Scott then came up to bat and drove a double to left field which cleared the bases and gave Bellingham a 4-3 lead. The emotions ran high in the Bayhawk dugout, but Anacortes quickly grabbed the momentum after loading the bases with two hits batters and a walk to begin the bottom of the seventh. A sacrifice fly tied the game, and a follow-up single won it for the Seahawks. The Bayhawks’ season is still alive and they will face Archbishop Murphy at 1:00 tomorrow at Daniels Field for the final berth to the 2A state tournament.
