A five-run top of the second gave the Bayhawks an early boost, and therefore will play for the district championship for the first time since 2012. Junior catcher Joe Harward went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in to lead the Bellingham offense. Junior second baseman Alden Scott also drove in a pair of runs, and picked up a two-inning save in relief. Tobias Lamb picked up the victory, and Ben Leonard threw three scoreless innings in relief. The Bayhawks will now face Anacortes at 6:00 on Thursday at Daniels Field.

The Cougars crawled out to a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth but it was all the Lions from there on out. Tyler Hanson scored on hit-by-pitch and Noah Navarrete, who was pinch running for Jax Baar, reached home on a balk to start the bottom of the fifth. Jaydin Oaks and Dane Marti then each batted in a run, pushing the lead out to three runs. Hanson scored again in the bottom sixth to extend the Lynden lead. Spencer Adams struck out five batters and gave up just three hits over six innings to capture the win, and Gavin Guttorsmon pitched the final inning and sent all three batters he faced back to their dugout. The Lions will now face Archbishop Murphy at 3:30 on Tuesday at Daniels Field.

The score was tied at 1-1 after three innings, but the Mariners scored two in the fourth and four more in the fifth, which allowed them to pull away in get the win. Tyson Goodman hit his first varsity homerun, and Gunnar Anderson hit a triple to help power the Sehome offense. Jad Geiger led with three hits and three stole bases, and Hudson Neff had two hits and scored two runs. Neff also controlled the game on the mound as he struck out nine batters and gave up just four hits in the complete game win. Squualicum’s run came when Jayson Morrison knocked in Eljas Lara. The Mariners will now face Burlington-Edison at 6:00 on Tuesday at Daniels Field. The season for the Storm came to a close.

The game moved along at a quick pace, and was scoreless through five and a half innings, but the defending state-champion Growls got hot in the bottom of the sixth and pushed across all six of their runs. The Borderites had numerous chances in previous innings which ended with multiple runners in scoring position. Senior catcher Evan Yates went 2-for-2 with a double to lead the Blaine offense. The Borderites had to regroup quickly and play again a few hours later against Lynden Christian.

Multiple lead changes took place in this back-and-forth contest, which came to a conclusion with the tying run 90 feet away. The Lyncs, as usual, were aggressive on offense and totaled 10 hits, with Eli Maberry, Austin Engels and Eli Stamps each recording a pair. Treyson Johnson drove in three runs, and he also struck out six batters over five innings on the mound. The loss meant Lynden Christian would face Blaine in a loser-out game.

The Trojans scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to come from behind and win the game as Pierce Brzozowski hit a triple which scored Cy Wickham and Trey Alexander, and he was then driven in with a bunt by Jaeger Fyfe. Nate Payne allowed just one hit over six innings, while striking out seven, and Fyfe came into the game to get the final three outs on the mound. Alexander led the Meridian offense with two hits. The win advanced Meridian into the semifinals to face Cedar Park Christian.

A bases loaded walk by Tresyon Johnson scored Eli Maberry in the top of the first inning, and that ended up being the lone run of the game as the Lyncs stayed alive and the Borderite’s season came to a close. Eli Stamps also hit a single in the opening inning, but that would be the only hit that Blaine pitcher Josh Cochran would allow as he struck out seven batters in the complete game effort. Lynden Christian junior Sam Kok matched him pitch for pitch as the junior righty struck out four in the 2-hit shutout win. The Lyncs will now face Meridian at 1:00 on Saturday at Joe Martin Stadium in a winner-to-state/loser-out game.

The Trojans got down early, and were able to score twice in the bottom of the seventh, but just had too much ground to cover as they got knocked into the consolation bracket by the Eagles. Senior centerfielder Tristan Wang drove in all three runs for Meridian, and he also led the team with two hits, including a double. Trey Alexander scored twice, and Pierce Brzozowski got his second extra-base hit of the tournament. The season for the Trojans is still alive and they will face Lynden Christian at 1:00 on Saturday at Joe Martin Stadium in a winner-to-state/loser-out game.
